How your documents are stored

Documents are encrypted in transit and at rest, backed up continuously, and stored in US data centers. Signed papers are additionally sealed — a change to one bit breaks the seal visibly.

Deleting a document deletes it; backups roll off on a 30-day schedule.

The seal on signed documents is cryptographic, not procedural — it does not depend on anyone at Melo behaving well, it depends on math. Verification happens every time the document is opened, so tampering would announce itself to the first person who looked.
